The annual Ferndale City Wide Clean Up will be held on Saturday, May 20 from 9 am to 1 pm. Please join us! We are looking for volunteers to help with litter pick up, weeding, and small projects downtown. Volunteers can come to the City Hall parking lot to be assigned a project. Please bring your work/gardening gloves.
Cleaning up at home? Free recycle will be available for scrap metal, cell phones, computers, and yard waste. Paper/document shredding will also be available.
We will hold our September meeting on Wednesday the 14th. We will be doing the final plans for the 2016 Harvest Festival. If you have additional items you would like addressed at the meeting, please join us at Cedars, 7:30 am or email on the front page contact form.
The FDA board met today to begin planning the annual City-Wide Clean-Up.
The event will take place on May 21st from 9am to 1pm. We will be headquartered in the parking lot behind city hall. There will be a number of stations set up including:
- Garbage (RDS) : Not intended for large loads or construction clean up.
- Metal (Scrap-It): scrap metal and appliances
- Computer Recycle
- Yard Waste
- Cell phone recycle
- Paper shredding
Projects for clean up include weeding and litter pick-up in the downtown area.
Volunteers will be needed, so please mark your calendars! Next board meeting will be April 6th.
We held a meeting on January 13th, open to all members. The two primary items covered at the January meeting were the Outdoor Christmas Lights and Secret Shopper videos.

Our second order of business was the secret shopper video. The video (part 1 & 2) is 3 hours, but the portion specific to Ferndale is only the first 12 minutes of video 2. You can find the video on the sidebar. Whether you are a business owner, or simply a Ferndale resident, it is a very interesting video and we encourage you to take time to watch it.
The Board met on Wednesday to plan out some of the clean up projects for Saturday. The list included:
- Picking up litter between the bridge and the library
- Weeding at City Hall
- Weeding around rocks at True Value/Hawlies Auto, plant ferns at Hawlies after weeding
- Weed behind railroad ties at end of 1st street (do not get near RR tracks), plant day lilies and tree.
- Sweep/scrub sidewalk on Main St. between Outlaws and Cedars
Recycle collection and check in will be at City Hall starting at 9 am Saturday, May 16th.
The board meeting for May has been moved to May 13th, 8 am at Cedars. First topic of the morning will be the downtown clean up.
